Saturday May 9, 2009Baillie BirdathonStarts at 8 am. Consider how you can have fun birding and raise money for Bird Studies Canada as well as our KFN club. We are starting in Lawrence and Joan Crossing's backyard at 203 Louisa St, Fenelon Falls (Common Loons on the lake) at 8 am. From there we will go to Tim's in the Falls to car pool and refresh (9 am). Then we go south to Ken Reid Conservation (Kenrei Road north of Lindsay) arriving by 9:40. After birding there for 1 and half hours (Yellow Rumped Warblers, Field Sparrows) we will travel to the Lindsay Sewage Lagoon (left past the jail on hwy 36 on to Wilson road) (Blue winged Teal, Wilson's Phalarope) arriving about 11:45. After an hour we will meet at the new Tim Horton's near the jail. In the afternoon, if it is not raining, we will head north again up Elm Tree Road to Glen Arm Road and west over to Prospect Road and then head north to Prospect marsh just south of County Road 48 (Marsh Wren, Green Heron). From there, if we are still standing, we could check out the Shrike on Wylie Road in the Carden Alvar north of Kirkfield and perhaps we will have enough energy to look for American Bittern in the Sedge wren Marsh. This is a very busy schedule and if we bump into good birding situations we will depart from this time line and will almost certainly be running late. So keep in touch. Bring drinks, food and insect repellent. Daniel Bone, 705 887-4691. Check out:www.bsc-eoc.org/support/birdathon.
